UNSW Built Environment event: Georgia Ezra 3rd at GOTYA

10 07 2009

Each year the Design Institute of Australia’s (DIA) Graduate of the Year Awards (GOTYA) showcases the unique talents of up and coming designers in the areas of Interior Design, Interior Decoration, Industrial Design, Graphic Design and Textile Design.

Recently our very own Interior Architecture student, Georgia Ezra took out 3rd prize at GOTYA’s 2008 awards, held in May this year. Georgia’s unique design of a penthouse apartment and International Performing Arts Centre were stand out entries.

The penthouse at Potts Point’s Gazebo Tower was an attempt to create a modern-day harem, through the use of lattice-like materials and the Performing Arts Centre, also home to a circus school, Circa Silos is a celebration of circus interiors integrated into the Glebe Island Silo site at Glebe Island.  Finally Georgia’s Duchamp Chess Club was an exploration of the idea of leaving behind a personal trace through design.

Aside from Georgia’s exciting achievement at GOTYA she was also commended by the judging panel at this year’s DIA Australasian Student Design Awards (ASDA) for her work on Circa silos.

Georgia’s outstanding achievements in the area of Interior design and architecture are truly inspirational and make her an emerging talent, definitely a designer to watch out for.
